For better or for worse, we live in a free society. Everybody knows that. There are great advantages in living in a free world. But not everybody is willing to face the sometimes ugly repercussions pertaining to this freedom.

When a bailiff arrives at your door, it is the consequences of decisions that YOU made that were proven either ill-advised or ill-timed. But YOU signed the papers regarding the heavy mortgage you took on your property. YOU are the one that miscalculated or did not figured a way to prevent the dire consequences of your choices. It all comes back to YOU and YOU alone, because your name and your responsibility appear on various documents that make you a debtor.

The bailiff is merely the mere messenger sent by your financial institution to ascertain their rights given by you to them. The financial institution was given guarantees by YOU and they are merely exercising their rights.

So, it is of the utmost importance to be aware of your rights and responsibilities from the beginning, and be well advised by both legal professionals and personal financing specialists. These professionals will tell you, at the onset, the degree of realism of your plan to buy a property.

Experienced professionals are worth their fees because they have or should have faced numerous instances such as the one you are contemplating. They will also be dispassionate regarding your purchase and will consider your decision to acquire your dwelling in a more impartial way.

It always comes back to YOU, because YOU have the final say on the matter. But don't blame anybody else if things go south. Live with your decision and pray that this dire lesson will not soon be forgotten. It is sometimes a cruel world, but learn to live with it and adapt...
